College of Communication @ Eleven

This year, College of Communication (COC) reached its 11th founding centenary with the theme: "Moving Beyond Excellence: Community Empowerment Through Communicative Acts".

Tuesday, August 28, 2012, COC officially opened its month-long celebration of its centennial. The public presentation of Mr. and Ms. COC was held at the University lobby and was spearheaded by the College Dean Dr. Edna T. Bernabe. A day after, mass was held at the University hall were COCians attended.

Thursday, August 30, 2012, a seminar was held at the Bulwagang Balagtas at the main campus wherein all the the 2nd year and 3rd year Mass Communication students were required. The discussion started 9am and ends at 12 o’clock in the afternoon which was themed, “Everybody Talks Few Connects” with guest speaker Ms. Lillia Ng Gui, segment producer in GMA Network 7.

Same day, the opening of booths and fun activities were followed at the COC which really made the whole occasion spicing. Different organizations from the University together with some other COCians primed activities in order to gain funds for their group. The following booths made the whole building ear-splitting: Photo booth, Wedding booth, Karaoke Booth, and Faculty Ukay-ukay. The other booths were “Make a Scene” by Film Aficionados (FILAC); “CIMB” by Communication Society; "War Zone" and many more.

Two of my friends, Liezel and Khersty joined Amazing Race wherein they top 3 and won DVDs and kits. My friends and I really had fun! We took lots of photos and we’re all looking forward for the 12th founding anniversary of the College of Communication (COC) next year. Happy birthday COC! I am proud to be a COCian!
